Some ranchers like the Chuck DeBoo family, who have only the raising of Angus cattle as their primary source of income, have had to make some pretty tough choices.
Rock bottom prices for all crops have caused them to diversify.
When Chuck's parents, Louis and Pat DeBoo, decided it was time to retire, they leased the ranch, cattle, and equipment to Chuck and his wife and children and his brother Frosty.
Although they have always enjoyed the rancher's life, calf prices have been extremely low and the ranch just couldn't support the families. Frosty took an opportunity in Valier.

It was also time to give others the opportunity to observe and enjoy the wonderful scenery on the ranch.
Chuck and Cary, their two daughters, Cayla and Crystal, and son Chase now run DeBoo's Pine Ridge Ranch Adventures. They offer guided half or full day horseback riding or
fishing on the ranch or surroundings. A year round creek with Rainbow Trout runs through the ranch.
This sideline business makes it possible to still live and work on the ranch and raise the children in the greatest atmosphere there is.
This venture started three years ago and just last year seemed to take off. Best of all is sharing the ranch and views with guests.
